We’re in the final days of 2022, and part of starting 2023 strong means ending this year well.
For many of us, this sends us into a spiral: looking at the long list of things didn’t do this year and wondering how the last 365 passed us by.
So what if instead, we picked just one thing to do to end the year well?
Here’s a quick, 5 minute exercise to help you decide your one thing:
- Set a timer for 5 minutes, and sit down in your favorite spot with a journal or notes app.
- Take a moment and reflect on one key area of your life: relationships, career, health or personal growth –
- and ask yourself: “What is one thing I want to make count in this area?”
The key to this exercise? Choose just one thing to focus on between now and the end of the year.
[For example, in personal growth: I’m wishing I had hit my goal of reading more this year. So the one thing I want to make count this month? Reading one book before the year ends.]
Then take 5 minutes and schedule time to actually do that one thing between now and the end of the year!
The best part? You only have to choose one thing.
Why does choosing just one thing matter? Because we know that small, actionable steps create real change. In other words, the one thing you’re choosing? It creates momentum – momentum to move forward and with confidence towards your next thing.
